Dr. Jiqiang Song is the General Manager of Intel Labs China. His research
interests include human-robot interaction, smart devices innovations, mobile
multi-media computing, pattern recognition and emerging application usage
He joined Intel in 2008 as Application R&D Director in the Tsinghua-Intel
Advanced Mobile Computing Center, being the core member of creating the Intel
Edison prototype. After the successful commercialization of Edison, he has
driven the SDK for smart devices based on Edison, which greatly promoted the
acceptance of Edison in maker community. He invented a new device category of
smart porcelain. He became the Managing Director of Intel Labs China since 2016.
From 2001 to 2008, he held various positions including PostDoc Fellow in Hong
Kong Chinese University, Chief Engineer of Hong Kong Applied Science and
Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Multimedia R&D Director in Simplnano
company. He is the senior member of IEEE since 2007, and he published more than
40 research papers in international journals and conferences such as IEEE TPAMI,
IEEE TCSVT, and Pattern Recognition.
Dr. Jiqiang Song received Ph.D. in Computer Science from Nanjing University in
2001, with his thesis awarded as “National Excellent Ph.D. Thesis”.
