Yunqi Liu (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in optics from Nankai University, Tianjin, China, in 1997 and 2000, respectively.,From 2000 to 2008, he worked as a Research Fellow with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; the School of Engineering, City University of London, U.K.; and the Department of Electronic Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China. He joined the School of Communication and Information Engineering, Shanghai University, China, as a Full Professor in 2008. He was supported by the Program for Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar) at the Shanghai Institutions of Higher Learning, China. His research interests include optical communications, optical fiber sensors, optoelectronics devices, fiber grating technology, and specialty fiber optics.

2000年7月毕业于南开大学现代光学研究所，获得理学博士学位，2000年至2008年，分别在新加坡南洋理工大学、英国伦敦城市大学、香港城市大学从事研究工作，2008年7月加入上海大学，首轮上海市“东方学者”特聘教授，2008年度上海市“曙光学者”，2009年获得上海市浦江计划人才项目支持，2009年12月入选教育部“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”。

兼任《应用科学学报》付主编、《Photonics》期刊topic editor，《上海大学学报（自然科学版）》编委。IEEE senior member。

多年来一直专注于光电子学、新型光纤通信技术、光纤传感技术等方面的研究工作，参与了多个有关光纤传感器与光纤器件的国际项目的研发工作，先后承担国家自然科学基金等科研项目10余项，至今已在国际主流学术期刊、国内核心期刊和国际知名会议上共发表论文200余篇，其中第一作者与通讯作者论文150余篇，被SCI与EI索引的论文150余篇，授权发明专利4项。
